Almost spits out his tea at that weird ass sight he’d just caught.
Was that-? Nah, that couldn’t be… Nope. It’s nothing.
Calls out from his own office. “Renji, I need you to go to the mess hall and bring me a bag of marshmallows and some blue-vein cheese.”
Marshmallows and what? Ew. What was even going on with his taichou right now?? That’s just so off. “Eh, okay taichou… Is that supposed to be your lunch or some snack?” He yelled, daring not to go into that office least he saw what he glimpsed earlier again.
Sets his pen down and paperwork aside, a little surprised that Renji didn’t pounce on the opportunity for some free time. “Nothing that cannot be finished later, but I would appreciate some tea before you elaborate.” Silently gestures to the kettle and teapot as he stands to find a second chair.
If it had been any other time the lieutenant would have happily strod off to enjoy his free time but he had a few things on his mind and needed to discuss them. “Ah right.” Following his captain’s gesture he went over to fill the teapot, two teacups and returned with it. “Actually its about the new recruits.” He began.
“Is that a good thing? I finished them early.” Actually been working on them all week.
“I wasn’t expecting these until this evening. If that was all your tasks for the day, you are permitted to have the remainder off, provided you remain available for anything unexpected.”
“Of course, taichou. But I was wondering if you weren’t doing anything important right now if we could discuss some things related to the division."
